オラフ・オット氏　プロフィール

1963年ドルトムント生まれ。ヴェストファーレン・リッペ音楽大学ドルトムント校(現デトモルト音楽大学)にてハインツ・クリッケ教授に師事。1983年西ドイツ青少年音楽祭で優勝。

1985年デュイスブルク交響楽団首席トロンボーン奏者(ライン・ドイツ・オペラ兼任)、1989-1994年ベルリン放送交響楽団(現ベルリン・ドイツ交響楽団)首席トロンボーン奏者を経て、1994年ベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団に入団し、1999年以来、首席トロンボーン奏者を務める。オーケストラやベルリン・フィルハーモニー・ブラス・アンサンブルとしての活動のかたわら、1982年に結成されたトリトン・トロンボーン四重奏団のメンバーとして、1986年ハンガリーのバラチで行われた国際金管室内楽コンクール第1位、1992年東京国際音楽コンクール室内楽第3部門第2位(ベスト・トロンボーン・クァルテット特別賞)受賞。2006年の来日公演はNHKで放送される。

現在、ベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団オーケストラ・アカデミーならびにハンス・アイスラー音楽大学で後進の指導にあたる他、ヨーロッパ、アジアなど世界各地でマスタークラスを開講している。

Profile of Olaf Ott

Olaf Ott was born in Dortmund in 1963. He studied with Professor Heinz Kricke at the Dortmund campus of the Westphalian School of Music (now the Detmold University of Music). In 1983, he won first prize at the West German Youth Music Festival.

In 1985, he was appointed Principal Trombonist of the Duisburg Symphony Orchestra (also performing with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein). From 1989 to 1994, he served as Principal Trombonist of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra (now the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin). In 1994, he joined the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and since 1999 he has held the position of Principal Trombonist.

In addition to his orchestral activities and performances with the Berlin Philharmonic Brass Ensemble, he has been a member of the Triton Trombone Quartet, founded in 1982. With the quartet, he won first prize at the International Brass Chamber Music Competition in Balatonfüred, Hungary, in 1986, and second prize (along with the Special Award for Best Trombone Quartet) at the Tokyo International Music Competition, Chamber Music Division, in 1992. Their 2006 Japan tour was broadcast on NHK.

He is currently involved in teaching the next generation at the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, and regularly gives masterclasses throughout Europe, Asia, and around the world.
